Statue of Ignatius Loyola

The Course

This non-residential course, held in the City of London over one year, offers an opportunity for individuals to explore and discover more in the way of their personal development and interest in Ignatian spirituality. Based on the teaching and practice of Ignatius of Loyola’s Spiritual Exercises, written 500 years ago and still full of relevant wisdom and insight, this course will draw on the material and experience of the Foundation Year of our 3-year course, but will have its own distinctive flavour.

The course provides a ‘first taste’ of many topics, including...

  • Ignatius and his Spirituality
An introduction to Ignatius’ own story
  • The Spiritual Exercises
Looking beneath the surface of the text to encounter the spirit
  • Ignatian Spirituality in Context
The tradition inherited by Ignatius and its place among contemporary resources
  • Exploring Our Own Spirituality
Connections between ideas about spirituality and the way we live

... with encouragement to do your own research if you want to go deeper. No previous experience of Ignatian spirituality is necessary, and the course will be taught largely on an interactive and experiential basis, with frequent opportunities for group discussion and participation. Individuals will be encouraged to experience Ignatian spirituality within the context of a retreat.

Dates, Times & Venue

The course will be held monthly over a weekend at the London Centre for Spirituality.
